ROFFS FISHERIES OCEANOGRAPHIC ANALYSIS FOR THE CAPE LOOKOUT INSHORE (LAT./LONG.)
SAMPLE*****SAMPLE*****SAMPLE*****SAMPLE*****SAMPLE*****SAMPLE*****SAMPLE*****SAMPLE*****SAMPLE*****SAMPLE*****SAMPLE*****SAMPLE
Based on a multiple factor analysis, the symbols (hot spot dots) mark the areas where bait concentrations are expected and where fishing action is expected to be better compared with other (non-marked) areas. These are not based on dock rumors or hearsay fishing reports. Fishing reports are stated as such. You should start fishing where you recognize other signs of good fishing conditions near these marked areas. It is very important to use your sea surface temperature (sst°) gauge to locate the boundaries of the water masses, which are outlined. Rather than trying to find water based on the absolute temperature values shown on the map, search for the relative change in sst where the water mass boundaries occur. Arrows indicate the main current direction. Numbers inside of the dots indicate the number of consecutive days that we have seen favorable conditions in that location.
We were able to see this water early this morning but the area became cloudy again. However, the ocean conditions look similar again to what we had observed two days ago suggesting that several areas are likely to provide kingfish action. The Gulf Stream ((84.6°-84.8°F) and blue blended Gulf Stream water (83.5°F-84.6°F) remain in this area.
The most favorable zone tactically occurs along the 81.5°F-82.2°F water mass boundary because favorable conditions have been there for three consecutive days over three separate, but nearby areas with good bottom from 76°55’W & 34°31’N to 76°50’W & 34°34’N south of Bogue Sound. Southwest of Bogue Sound the same water mass boundary has been over good bottom for three days near 77°11’W & 34°23’N suggesting that good chances for action occur. Off Bogue Inlet good chances for action occur near 77°05’W & 34°36’N.
By Lookout Bight the 81.5°F-82.2°F water mass boundary has been over the wreck (near 77°36’W & 34°33’N and 76°39’W & 33°39’N for the last three days suggesting that good chances for action occur. Favorable conditions for a combination of kingfish, jacks and tuna occur offshore of Cape Lookout Shoals at the edge of the blue water near 76°34’W & 34°27’N and 76°21’W & 34°22’N. East of Cape Lookout along the same boundary good chances for action occurs over the wreck near 76°00’W & 34°32’N. Another blue water mass boundary over another wreck for the last three days suggests that good chances for action occurs near 75°55’W & 34°46’N.
Off Core Sound the boundary of the coastal green water has been over the good bottom area for the last three days near 75°58’W & 34°55’N suggesting that good chances for action occurs.
