ROFFS™ FISHERIES OCEANOGRAPHIC ANALYSIS FOR THE HARBOUR ISLAND AREA (LAT./LONG. ONLY)
SAMPLE***SAMPLE***SAMPLE***SAMPLE***SAMPLE***SAMPLE*** SAMPLE***SAMPLE***SAMPLE***SAMPLE***SAMPLE***SAMPLE***
Based on a multiple factor analysis, the symbols (hot spot spots) mark the areas where bait concentrations are expected and where fishing action is expected to be better compared with other (non-marked) areas. These are not based on dock rumors or hearsay fishing reports. Fishing reports are stated as such. You should start fishing where you recognize other signs of good fishing conditions near these marked areas. It is very important to use your sea surface temperature (sst°) gauge to locate the boundaries of the water masses, which are outlined. Rather than trying to find water based on the absolute temperature values shown on the map, search for the relative change in sst where the water mass boundaries occur. Arrows indicate the main current direction. Numbers inside of the dots indicate the number of consecutive days that we have seen favorable conditions in that location.
Due to cloud cover in the Eleuthera area this afternoon we have used a combination of satellite imagery from late last evening and earlier this morning to provide today’s analysis.   Overall, we continue to observe a counter-clockwise rotating eddy centered between the Hole in the Wall area and the Wonderland area near 76°50’W & 26°06-07’N which does not appear as it has moved much over the past 24 hours or so due to the northwestward motion of the relatively cooler (76.7°F) blended blue Eleuthera water northeast of it and the southward motion of the warmer (78°F) Gulf Stream water west of it.  Eastward, we continue to observe a second counter-clockwise rotating eddy centered north of Harbour Island near 76°30’W & 26°13N.  Northeast of Eleuthera we observed a third large eddy today centered near 75°35’W & 25°23’N which appears to continue to rapidly take over the flow over the eastern portion of the chart area pulling a large pool of dark blue (77.2°F-77.7°F-78.2°F) water in a favorable westward direction towards Eleuthera with your better chances for marlin action occurring where we believe you will find its leading edges, particularly where the ocean conditions have remained favorable for two days now.
Offshore of the Bridge Point area good chances for fishing action occur where we have observed a 0.5°F cooler to warmer water mass boundary for six days now over the 1000 fathom curve near 76°32’W & 25°36-37’N. Southeastward, additional good chances for tuna, wahoo, dolphin, and billfish action occur where we have observed similar ocean conditions for two to three days as well over the 100-1000 ledges towards the areas of James Point and Palmetto Point near 76°29’W & 25°30’N, 76°22’W & 25°25’N, and 76°09’W & 25°15’N.  We have also observed favorable ocean conditions for two to three days now along the western edge of the dark blue (76.7°F) Eleuthera water over the 100-1000 fathom ledges between Palmetto Point and Powell Point from 76°03’W & 25°12’N to 76°01-02’W & 25°01’N to 76°)2-03’W & 24°22’N.  If fishing action is not up to your expectations in these areas, your better chances for marlin action may occur where we expect you will find the leading edge of the rapidly approaching (78.2°F-77.7°F) dark blue Eleuthera water by fishing time tomorrow morning northeast of the Eleuthera area particularly where we have observed favorable conditions for two days now from 76°08-09’W & 25°35’N to 75°58’W & 25°15’N.
East of Abaco, good chances for fishing action occur where the eastern edge of the Gulf Stream (78.0°F-77.5°F) water meets the northwestern edge of the dark blue (75.8°F) blended Eleuthera water and the ocean conditions have remained favorable for thirteen days now over the 1000 fathom curve in the area of the Pocket east of Elbow Cay near 76°54’W & 26°27’N and perhaps further southward where we have observed similar ocean conditions for four and three days respectively now in the North Bar area near 76°56-57’W & 26°20-21’N and 76°58’W & 26°14.15’N.  Eastward, some action may also happen where we have observed favorable, but different ocean conditions for two to three days now in the Wonderland area and where we expect you will find the northern edge of the relatively warmer (76.7°F) blue water near 76°50’W & 26°18’N and 76°48-49’W & 26°24’N.
Southwest of the Southwest Point area we continue to observe the counter-clockwise rotation of the eddy which appears to be pushing a pool of dark blue (77.5°F-78.2°F) water in a favorable inshore direction suggesting that good chances for fishing action may happen where we have observed favorable ocean conditions for three and four days now over the 1000 fathom curve near 77°13’W & 25°45-46’N and over the good bottom of the Twins near 77812’W & 25°38-39’N.
