Based on a multiple factor analysis, the symbols (hot spot spots) mark the areas where bait concentrations are expected and where fishing action is expected to be better compared with other (non-marked) areas. These are not based on dock rumors or hearsay fishing reports. Fishing reports are stated as such. You should start fishing where you recognize other signs of good fishing conditions near these marked areas. It is very important to use your sea surface temperature (sst°) gauge to locate the boundaries of the water masses, which are outlined. Rather than trying to find water based on the absolute temperature values shown on the map,  search for the relative change in sst where the water mass boundaries occur. Arrows indicate the main current direction. Numbers inside of the dots indicate the number of consecutive days that we have seen favorable conditions in that location.
                    
We are able to observe the ocean conditions in this area relatively clearly today using imagery from late this morning and this afternoon. The morning estimated sst of the main body of the Gulf Stream is 79.8°F and continues to occur offshore of the 100 fathom ledge. Overall, we are able to observe two small fast moving eddy features moving northeastward along the western edge of the Gulf Stream offshore of Marathon near 80°50’W & 24°30’N and 81°18’W & 24°05’N. As these eddies continue through the area, they are pulling filaments of blue 77.9°F Gulf Stream water inshore over the 100 fathom ledge providing your better overall chances for fishing action with tuna, dolphin, wahoo and billfish, especially where favorable conditions have remained stable for more than two days.

With this in mind, the ocean conditions suggest your better chances for fishing action with tuna, dolphin, wahoo and sailfish will occur east southeast of Key West along the inshore edge of the blue 77.2°F water that has remained inshore over the good bottom of the Ups and Downs for the past two days near 81°33’W & 24°22’N, 81°18’W & 24°25’N and near 81°11’W & 24°27’N. Additional chances for action will also occur over the Ups and Downs along the edge of the warmer filament of blue 77.9°F water where it lies near 81°07’W & 24°27’N and 81°13’W & 24°24’N. Further offshore, increased chances for fishing action is also likely to occur along the inshore edge of the main body of the Gulf Stream (79.8°F) where it continues to push northward and where favorable conditions have remained stable for two days near 81°06’W & 24°20’N, 81°15’W & 24°12’N and near 81°25’W & 24°05’N. On your way out to the finger of blue 77.2°F water over the Ups and Downs, do not overlook the blended blue 76.0°F water as it may also provide increased chances for action where it lies over the good bottom near 81°22’W & 24°32’N, 81°33’W & 24°29’N, and near 81°44’W & 24°26’N.
