ROFFS FISHERIES OCEANOGRAPHIC ANALYSIS FOR THE LLOYD RIDGE TO 960 HILL AREA (LAT./LONG. ONLY)
SAMPLE***SAMPLE***SAMPLE***SAMPLE***SAMPLE***SAMPLE***SAMPLE***SAMPLE***SAMPLE***SAMPLE***SAMPLE***SAMPLE***SAMPLE***SAMPLE***
Based on a multiple factor analysis, the symbols (hot spot spots) mark the areas where bait concentrations are expected and where fishing action is expected to be better compared with other (non-marked) areas. These are not based on dock rumors or hearsay fishing reports. Fishing reports are stated as such. You should start fishing where you recognize other signs of good fishing conditions near these marked areas. It is very important to use your sea surface temperature (sst°) gauge to locate the boundaries of the water masses, which are outlined. Rather than trying to find water based on the absolute temperature values shown on the map,  search for the relative change in sst where the water mass boundaries occur. Arrows indicate the main current direction. Numbers inside of the dots indicate the number of consecutive days that we have seen favorable conditions in that location.

We were able to see the ocean conditions in this area clearly today.  Overall, the dark blue (85.1°F) Loop Current water continues to dominate the western portion of the chart area and continues to push east/northeastward between the southern side of the De Soto Canyon and the Lloyds Ridge areas that is likely to increase your overall chances for fishing action along its northeastern edges.  East of the eastern edge of the Loop Current we continue to observe a counter-clockwise rotating eddy centered near 86°17’W & 27°45’N that continues to drift southward along the inside of the eastern edge of the Loop Current while at the same time it appears to be pulling a large pool of blue (83.7°F) water in a north/northwestward direction south/southwest of Cape San Blas that is likely to provide relatively good chances for fishing action along its northwestern edge where the ocean conditions have remained favorable for two days now over the 140-500 fathom depths.

With this in mind, some increased chances for a combination of tuna, wahoo, dolphin, and billfish action occur where we observed the north/northeastern edge of the warmest (85.1°F) dark blue Loop Current water for the first time today from the good bottom of the Double Nipple near 87°44’W & 28°55’N and 87°33’W & 28°53-54’N southeastward between the 500 fathom curve near 87°09’W & 28°50’N and the 1000-1500 fathom ledge near 86°44’W & 28°10’N and further southeastward over the Lloyds Ridge area from 86°40’W & 27°55’N to 86°35’W & 27°32’N.  There are no strong oceanographic indicators as to which portion of this boundary zone is likely to provide your better chances for fishing action; however, if fishing action is not up to your expectations, additional increased chances for fishing action occur eastward where the eastern edge of the blue (84.7°F) Loop Current water continues to push eastward and was observed today from the 300 fathom curve near 86°28-29’W & 28°30’N offshore to the 1000-1500 fathom ledge near 86°33’W & 28°02’N and then further southward over the Lloyds Ridge area near 86°35’W & 27°55’N.  East/northeastward, relatively better chances for tuna, wahoo, dolphin, and billfish action occur along the northwestern edge of the blue (83.7°F) water being pulled north/northwestward by the counter-clockwise rotating eddy for two days now from the 140 fathom depths near 85°43-44’W & 28°31-32’N offshore to the 300 fathom curve near 86°13’W & 28°18-19’N and perhaps further offshore to the 500 fathom depths near 86°26’W & 28°06-07’N.
