ROFFS FISHERIES OCEANOGRAPHIC ANALYSIS
FOR THE MIAMI AREA (LAT./LONG. ONLY)
SAMPLE***SAMPLE***SAMPLE***SAMPLE***SAMPLE***SAMPLE***SAMPLE***SAMPLE***
Based on a multiple factor analysis, the symbols (hot spot spots) mark the areas where bait concentrations are expected and where fishing action is expected to be better compared with other (non-marked) areas. These are not based on dock rumors or hearsay fishing reports. Fishing reports are stated as such. You should start fishing where you recognize other signs of good fishing conditions near these marked areas. It is very important to use your sea surface temperature (sst°) gauge to locate the boundaries of the water masses, which are outlined. Rather than trying to find water based on the absolute temperature values shown on the map,  search for the relative change in sst where the water mass boundaries occur. Arrows indicate the main current direction. Numbers inside of the dots indicate the number of consecutive days that we have seen favorable conditions in that location.

We were able to see the ocean conditions in this area clearly again today using a combination of satellite imagery from today.  The estimated morning sst° of the main body of the Gulf Stream is 81.3°F.  Please keep in mind that we have shown morning sst° here.  Afternoon sst° are likely to be as much as 1°F WARMER than what we have shown here.  Remember to look for relative rather than absolute sst° while out on the water.  Overall, we observed two Gulf Stream eddy features influencing the ocean conditions in this area.  The first eddy was located offshore of the Elbow area today and was centered near 80°13’W & 25°04’N.  This feature is likely to continue to progress north/northeastward and is likely to be centered somewhere offshore of the Miami area by fishing time tomorrow morning.  The second eddy was located offshore of the area of the Ft. Lauderdale area and was centered near 79°50’W & 26°07’N.  This feature is also likely to continue to progress north/northeastward and be centered north of the chart area by early tomorrow morning.

With this in mind, some increased chances for a combination of tuna, wahoo, dolphin, billfish, and perhaps kingfish action may occur along the western edge of a relatively warmer (80.1°F) blue water filament that appears to have been left behind by an eddy that has since moved northward out of the chart area between Ft. Lauderdale and Pompano Beach over the 100-130 fathom depths and good bottom topography near 79°59’W & 26°10’N and 80°02-03’W & 26°03-04’N.  Southward, offshore of the Miami area, good chances for fishing action occur where we have observed favorable ocean conditions for two days now from the 50 fathom ledge in the Fowey Rocks area near 80°06’W & 25°36’N northeastward (offshore) to just east of the 100 fathom curve offshore of North Miami near 80°02’W & 25°49’N.  Offshore, good chances for trolling action with tuna, wahoo, dolphin, and marlin occur where we have observed the western edge of the dark blue (81.3°F) Gulf Stream water (cooler to warmer water mass boundary of the passing eddy) for two days now over the 150-200 fathom depths from 79°55’W & 25°41-42’N to 79°48-49’W & 26°00’N.

Southward, good chances for a mixed bag of fishing action occur where we have observed favorable ocean conditions for two days now and where we believe you will find the western edge of the dark blue (80.6°F-81.3°F) Gulf Stream water by fishing time tomorrow morning between Fowey Rocks and Pacific Reef over the 50-100 fathom depths from 80°08-09’W & 25°20-21’N to 80°03-04’W & 25°32’N.  Continuing offshore, both the warmer to cooler and cooler to warmer water mass boundaries of the approaching eddy from the south are likely to provide fishing action where we expect you will find these conditions by early tomorrow morning over the 50-200 fathom depths between the area offshore of Carysfort Reef and Triumph Reef particularly over the 50-100 fathom depths from 80°08’W & 25°16-17’N to 80°02-03’W & 25°30’N.
