In split seconds, a gamefish transforms from a dark shadow beneath your trolled bait into a feeding, fighting, leaping frenzy of color and light. Details like the translucent rainbow shimmering skin of freshly caught tuna or kingfish, the neon aqua green, blues and purple of an excited marlin, the bright orange of a deep water mutton snapper and the olive green of a shallow reef snapper... these are sights only the fisherman ever sees.

      "One evening, while fishing off Venezuela, my line began to rise. I traded my rod for a camera, and through the lens was an incredible sight ... a swordfish greyhounding at the transom with the sunset in the background. This was the ultimate fishing photo. I pressed, but nothing happened, I was out of film! I looked up to see the the last leap before it disappeared into the ocean. That is a sight that is etched in my memory more vividly than a photo could capture. These are the scenes I try to capture in my paintings."

      "Understanding marine life is important to accurately painting the dimesions and musculature of juvenile and adult fish. But what I apply to the canvas is a true love of sportfishing. I would not trade this job for anything in the world. My studio is the ocean."
