ROFFS™ Gulf of Mexico to Singapore Rig Tow

FOR THE GULF OF MEXICO TO SINGAPORE TOW
USING IMAGERY AND DATA FROM THE PAST 24 HOURS      

We have shown unfavorable currents circled in red. Favorable currents are circled in green. The initial route with the route change is shown in light purple, and the ROFFS™-schaudt.us suggested route is shown in yellow. 

As the rig continues eastward past Cape Agulhas along the tow route, it will fight strong unfavorable southwest flow of the Agulhas Current from 21°00’E & 36°20’S to 31°00’E & 32°00’S. Additional unfavorable pools of water along the initial route occur a you approach the Mozambique Channel near 36°00’E & 29°00’S and from near 41°00’E & 25°00’S to 43°00’E & 21°00’S. To avoid these stretches of unfavorable currents and remain in more favorable currents that would benefit the overall performance of the tow we continue to suggest an alternate tow route further offshore of the South African coastline with waypoints near 19°00’E & 36°48’S, 26°00’E & 36°30’S, 35°00’E & 33°00’S, 39°00’E & 29°00’N, and 40°00’E & 21°00’S.  We believe that by continuing further offshore, the tow will push through the Agulhas Current and ride the more favorable return current northward towards the Mozambique Channel.
