ROFFS™ Gulf of Mexico SST/Ocean Color Images – April 13, 2017

Below are an image pair – one composite SST image from April 9-11, 2017 and one composite ocean color/chlorophyll image from April 8-11, 2017 showing the current conditions in the Gulf of Mexico (GOM).  Although the main body of the Loop Current has pushed slightly northward past 25°30’N over the past two weeks, it remains far south.  However, as verified from the ocean color imagery, there is an abundance of blue water over the Green Canyon and Mississippi Canyon areas south of the Mississippi River Delta region and towards the Steps, De Soto Canyon and Nipple areas suggesting that the tuna, wahoo, dolphin and even early season marlin are already in these areas.

Offshore of the western coast of Florida blue water due to a clockwise rotating eddy centered near 84°30’W & 26°30’N has also pushed within 20-30 miles of the Tampa area suggesting fishing action is likely to improve in this area as well.  Coastal SST are above 68-69°F suggesting that cobia are likely to arrive if they have not arrived already.  Westward towards the Texas coast we observed a large counter-clockwise rotating eddy feature centered near 95°00’W & 27°00’N that continues to push favorable blue water conditions (and fish) closer towards the Texas coast.  NOW is the time to get out there and fish.  Conditions are favorable with an abundance of blue water present in the GOM and now that the latest cold front has pushed through the area and the afternoon air temperatures are warming the SST are warming as well.  Call ROFFS™ today at 800.677.7633, email us at fish7@roffs.com or click here to place your order today.
