ROFFS™ (Roffer’s Ocean Fishing Forecasting Service) is in the hunt for a qualified Satellite Fisheries Oceanographer to add to their team. This position is a seasonal with eventual full time employment opportunity. Applicant should be a quick learner and a highly motivated individual that is able to work efficiently both independently and with others in a team environment. Candidate should be a reliable, honest and trustworthy individual that can flourish in a challenging deadline driven atmosphere during specific times of year. Job Description: Main duties will include, but are not limited to, processing and analyzing satellite derived oceanographic data and models at different levels to produce and write multiple daily fishing forecasting analyses for clients. Analyst is also required to communicate with clients on a regular basis. This is primarily an operational/production computer based position, but opportunities for scientific research, computer programming, product development, travel and giving seminars are likely during certain times of year.

Qualifications: Minimum requirements are a Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent in a science or computer related discipline and/or Masters of Science degree in a science or computer related discipline. Degrees in oceanography related fields (specifically fisheries, biology, physics), remote sensing, GIS, computer sciences, meteorology or engineering will get higher priority and will be to an advantage. Knowledge and experience with fishing, geography, scientific and proposal writing, social media platforms will be highly beneficial. Applicant must be a United States citizen and be willing to live and train in the Melbourne, Florida area with possible future opportunities to work remotely. Must be a United States citizen.

Experience: PC and Mac operating system computing familiarity are a must. GIS (specifically ArcGIS), IDL/ENVI, and Adobe Photoshop software programming skills (or similar software) and experience will significantly increase your chances for hire. Good to excellent communication skills are a priority. 

Compensation: Starting salary between $35K to $45K range will be based on experience and level of qualification. Benefits include vacation time, performance bonuses and retirement plan options. Availability to work Saturdays during the summer months is mandatory to start.

Temporary Summer Help Front Office Position.

Part Time (20-30 hours/week) April – Early Sept

Scientific oceanographic consulting company (ROFFS™) located in West Melbourne is looking for self-motivated, reliable and energetic person who will flourish in a fun, fast paced office. Self-starter and team player in an informal environment.

Duties include strong phone skills with personable voice, distribution of scientific analyses, customer service and marketing. Position requires use and knowledge of computers with proficient spelling for accurate data entry with our client database.

Varied hours including Saturdays and evenings till 7:30 PM. Additional hours and overtime may be available. Office is closed to the public.
